Virtual University of Pakistan arranged Prize Distribution Ceremony on Thursday, 3rd November 2016 at Alhamra Arts Council Lahore. A number of final competitions were held during the ceremony in which a large number of students participated. The teams were applauded by the audience. It was a colorful event with lot of fun and excitement.
In drama competition, various campuses participated. All teams performed exceptionally well and were appreciated by the audience. According to the decision of the judges, Muzaffargarh campus (Central-II Region) won the competition. second position was secured by Hyderabad campus (South-II Region).
In singing competition, Husnain Shakeel from Lahore (Central-I Region) secured first position while Hamza Baig from Muzaffargarh (Central-II Region) and Tayyaba Ahsan Ladhi from Hyderabad (South-II Region) secured second and third positions respectively.
In national song category, Nadir Rafique from Multan (Central-II Region)) got first position, Husnain Shakeel from Lahore (Central-I Region) and Hamza Baig from Muzaffargarh (Central-II Region) secured second and third positions respectively.
Dr. Naveed A Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan was the chief guest of the event. He commended the organizers as well as students societies for arranging such lively activities that are pre-requisite for promoting a healthy culture. He said that most important outcome of this student week is that now all our students across Pakistan more united and closer to each other that helps us to work together with the passion for the progress of Pakistan. He urged all members to plan more extracurricular events in a manner that students from different part of the country can participate. At the end, prizes were distributed by Dr. Naveed A Malik among the winner students.
It may be recalled that Students’ Week was started in August 2016, with the objective to create healthy literary and extracurricular activities in all VU campuses across Pakistan. Different competitions including Software Programming, Photography Competition, Poetry, Short Play, Cricket, Table tennis, Speech Competition, Quiz and Singing Competition were held at regional level, followed by the national level final contest of all regional level winners at Lahore. Virtual University followed the same custom to motivate the young and talented student community.
